1 General

2 Arenberg Auctions

Arenberg Auctions is a leading Belgian auction house, specialising in rare books, manuscripts, drawings and prints, atlases, maps and photographs. We take care of inventories, valuations and public auctions, among other things.

In this context, Arenberg Auctions comes into contact with personal data, both of our own employees, buyers and sellers. Arenberg Auctions is responsible for this data, and for handling it in a manner consistent with the applicable legal requirements.

3 Personal data

3.1 Which personal data do we process?

Arenberg Auctions shall only process your identification information (first name, surname, telephone number, e-mail address) in order to communicate by e-mail, via the contact form on the website or directly with one of our employees when we have contact by telephone. If it’s necessary for the auction of goods, we will also process your bank account number. At last, we will also process a copy of your identity card due to a legal obligation in the context of anti-money laundering and counterterrorism.

3.2 Why do we process your personal data?

Arenberg Auctions shall only use your personal data for communication in the context of a professional relationship.

3.2.1 Invoicing and administration

Arenberg Auctions collects invoicing and administrative information to fulfil its administrative obligations, such as charging for services provided to the customer or maintaining our statutory accounting records. Arenberg Auctions is required by law to retain such personal data for 7 years.

3.2.2 Requests for information

The personal data that we collect via or via an email to one of our employees will only be used to answer your questions appropriately and accurately.
